Rubicon Farm & Ranch is a regenerative farming operation in Hanover, Virginia. We raise pastured poultry, grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and pastured laying hens. Our goal is to minimally impose control, while allowing the livestock a fully expressed life, free to forage for bugs and perennial polycultures in fresh paddocks every day.
Why We Farm This Way
We started Rubicon Farm & Ranch because life brought us health challenges and food brought us healing. As it turns out, there is a better way — for the animals, for the land, and for the families who eat what we raise. Regenerative agriculture is not just a practice for us. It is a stewardship commitment to leaving the land better than we found it.
Our chickens are moved to fresh pasture daily to scratch and peck at bugs and forage. Our beef cattle graze on perennial grasses in new paddocks daily. Our hogs root and forage in wooded paddocks. Every animal is free to live the way it was designed to.
We process our broiler chickens on-farm, which means your chicken goes from pasture to your freezer with as few hands and as little distance as possible. This creates a resilient supply-chain, but it also reduces stress on the animals, helping us to produce the best tasting chicken you’ve ever eaten.
